Oilers Down Stars to Take Game 3

Western Conference Finals Series at 2-1 Oilers

McDavid, Hyman Lead Oilers to Victory

EDMONTON, Alberta -- Goals from Connor McDavid and Zach Hyman gave the Edmonton Oilers a 5-3 victory over the Dallas Stars in Game 3 of the Western Conference Finals on Friday night. The Oilers now lead the best-of-seven series 2-1.

McDavid opened the scoring just 2:43 into the game, taking a pass from Leon Draisaitl and firing a shot past Stars goaltender Jake Oettinger. Hyman made it 2-0 less than four minutes later, tapping in a rebound from a shot by Evander Kane.

The Stars cut the deficit to 2-1 with a goal from Jamie Benn at 12:47 of the first period. But the Oilers restored their two-goal lead with a power-play goal from Evan Bouchard at 7:24.

The Stars again cut the lead to one goal with a score from Miro Heiskanen at 12:43 of the second period. But the Oilers held on for the victory, with McDavid adding an empty-net goal with 1:09 remaining in the game.

Mike Smith made 34 saves for the Oilers, while Oettinger stopped 28 shots for the Stars. The two teams will meet again in Game 4 on Sunday night in Edmonton.
