Keon Raymond and Spencer Wilson sign 1-day contracts to retire as Stampeders

Calgary Stampeders' Keon Raymond and Spencer Wilson announce their retirement from Canadian Football

Former Calgary Stampeders Keon Raymond and Spencer Wilson will sign one-day contracts with the team on Thursday and officially retire with the franchise.

Raymond's 10-year career

Raymond, 34, played 10 seasons as a running back with the Stampeders from 2013-22 and was a member of the team's 2014 Grey Cup championship team. He rushed for 4,684 yards, including a 1,000-yard season in 2019, and caught 274 passes for 2,245 yards.

The Regina product was named the CFL's Most Outstanding Canadian in 2019 and was a three-time West Division all-star. He was also named the Stampeders' Most Outstanding Canadian four times and was the team's nominee for the CFL's Most Outstanding Player Award in 2019.

Wilson's eight seasons in Calgary

Wilson, 34, spent eight seasons in Calgary from 2015-22 as a linebacker. He recorded 323 defensive tackles, 24 sacks, 11 interceptions and two touchdowns.

The Ajax, Ont., native was a member of the Stampeders' 2018 Grey Cup championship team and was named a West Division all-star in 2017.

Raymond and Wilson will be honoured at a pre-game ceremony before the Stampeders' home game against the Edmonton Elks on Saturday.
